The rings

In an earlier post I said I'd talk a little bit more about the designer who created not only mine, but also Josh's engagement ring.

I have swooned over beautiful engagement rings for longer than I'd like to admit. I fell in love with designs inspired by nature and those using alternative stones. Seriously, if you haven't already, get yourself on etsy/pinterest there are some beauties!

One designer stood out, Olivia Ewing. This woman's jewellery is to die for! I've been eying up a pair of earrings on her etsy page for a good two years but never had the funds or the occasion to treat myself. My constant 'oooo look at this one! oooo but look at this one that she makes!' clearly made an impact and Josh bought my engagement ring from this extremely talented woman. When wondering where to get Josh's engagement ring we had no doubt that Olivia was, once again, the woman for the job!

Olivia also does custom designs and can even take a twig that you post her / send image of and sculpt any of her current ring designs using that twig. We're considering getting our wedding bands made to match twigs that represent where we're both from!

Here's a little bit of information about Olivia taken from her website -
'Design and creation has always been a huge part of my life. From the time I could walk, I was helping my mother, a talented designer and seamstress herself, in her sewing room and making my own clothing for my teddy bears and dolls. This passions that struck me at an early age has stayed with me my entire life and eventually led me to design school, first in Paris and then in New York.
My passion for sewing and clothing has continued; however, the first time I stepped foot in a bead store, I knew that I had found my true love. Jewellery is so tired into emotion and sentiment and I take great pleasure in making something that can make memories last a lifetime. [...] I am inspired by nature all around me, from the tiny vines that strives to grow in an untilled lot in my Brooklyn neighborhood to the amazingly unchecked growth on the coast of Maine where I spent my summers as a child in my grandfather cottage. Each moment is equally remarkable, and if I can capture even a fraction of their wonder in my designs, I have accomplished my goal.'
